October 23, 2023, at 6 a.m. I found him lying lifeless. My heart shattered in a million pieces. Our baby, our chubby little friend, our "seizure alert" dog, our beloved Bite left us.
Bite was with us for a good 10 years and it was heartbreaking to accept the fact that he did not survive his illness. He suffered from liver failure. It was a from a darn tick bite that made him so sick.
Bite was not so much of a lap dog. Despite his small size, he believed he was there to protect us from intruders. He would lay across the main door in his "guard dog" mode. He had an amazing sense of smell. He knew that my husband would be having a seizure episode (my husband has epilepsy) just by sniffing his toes. He'd never leave his side and would bark loudly to make us aware of an upcoming medical emergency. He was the best buddy anyone could ever have.
Our family could not bear the thought of burying him in the ground. Bite deserves more than that. He was family. He IS and will forever be a beloved family member.
We brought his remains to a place called Pet To Nature Philippines. They offer Bio-cremation or Aquamation services which would be a more gentle process compared to cremation. Bite was laid on a beautiful table adorned with flowers. We were given 30 minutes to be with him before they took him away to start the aquamation process.
Here are some pictures of Bite's wake.
His remains were placed in a beautiful white urn and some of his fur, teeth, and paw prints are in a wooden frame with his picture.
